The 15th International Ferro-Alloys Congress (Infacon XV) will be held at the Century City Conference Centre in Cape Town, South Africa from 25-28 February 2018.
INFACON (International Ferro-Alloys Congress) was founded in South Africa in 1974 by the SAIMM (Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy), Mintek (then the National Institute for Metallurgy), and the Ferro Alloys Producers' Association (FAPA) when the first INFACON was held in Johannesburg.
The intention of INFACON is to stimulate technical interchange on all aspects of ferro-alloy production.
The formal conference announcement is now available, as is the list of abstracts.
Papers from previous conferences can be downloaded from www.pyrometallurgy.co.za/Infacon/
INFACON is controlled by the International Committee on Ferro-Alloys (ICFA) whose objective is to promote the holding of the congress every two to three years in appropriate locations and to retain the established high technical standard.
The conference is planned to run from 26-28 February 2018, with some introductory social activities planned for the Sunday afternoon preceding the three-day conference. Post-conference plant visits will be arranged for those interested.
Of significance to South African participants who are registered professional engineers, is the fact that accreditation will be applied for for this conference to provide 3 points towards the Continuing Professional Development that is required to maintain registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa.
